Questions people ask

Is it free?

Yes. There is no account, no trial and no limit on how many transcripts you pull. The site is paid for by ads placed below the tool, never above it.

Which videos work?

Any public YouTube video that already has captions — either the creator's own or YouTube's automatic ones. Private, unlisted and age-restricted videos cannot be read, and neither can a video with captions switched off.

How accurate is the transcript?

It is exactly as accurate as the caption track on the video. Creator-written captions are usually near-perfect. Automatic captions are good but miss names, jargon and crosstalk, and we label them as auto-generated so you know which you got.

Can I get subtitles I can use in a video editor?

Yes. Download the transcript as .srt or .vtt and drop it straight into Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or a web player. The timings come from the video itself, so they line up without adjustment.
