Privacy policy

The short version

There is no account, so there is nothing to sign up with. We do not store the transcripts you generate, and we do not sell anything about you. Advertising is served by Google AdSense, which does set cookies — that section is below and it is the part worth reading.

What we collect

Transcript requests. When you paste a link, our server receives that URL and your IP address. The IP address is used for one thing: a rate limit that stops a single machine overwhelming the service. It lives in memory and is discarded when the bucket expires — typically within ten minutes — and is never written to a database.

Server logs. Requests are logged with the video id, which provider served them and how long they took, so failures can be diagnosed. These logs are operational and short-lived.

Transcripts themselves. Not stored. The transcript is fetched, sent to your browser and forgotten by the server. Copies and downloads are generated entirely in your browser from data already on your screen — they never touch our server.

Cookies and advertising

This site itself sets no tracking cookies. It does show adverts through Google AdSense, and Google — as a third-party vendor — uses cookies to serve them.

Embedded YouTube players

A transcript page embeds the YouTube player so you can follow along. That embed is YouTube's, and it may set its own cookies under Google's policies. We do not control what the embedded player stores.

Data stored in your browser

Nothing beyond what the page needs while it is open. Clearing the tab clears it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and store no transcripts, there is generally nothing of yours for us to hand over or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to [email protected] and we will look into it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions go to the contact page.
